I have a quote on my wall from Maya Angelou “My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour, and some style”. Maya overcame great obstacles and certainly impacted many people with her writing, activism and compassion. After significant trauma she stopped speaking. A teacher inspired her to write and that is where she found her voice again. Everyone needs someone in their corner. Not everyone does.
